Xenesthis intermedia “Trujillo,” also known as the Amazon Blue Bloom, is a beautiful tarantula native to Venezuela. Its pink color and large size—females can reach up to 8 inches in leg span—make it a real eye-catcher. Females live much longer, often 12–15 years, while males usually live 3–4 years. This tarantula is generally calm but can be quick to retreat if startled, sometimes kicking hairs or raising its legs in defense. It’s a fascinating pet for anyone interested in exotic tarantulas.

Xenesthis intermedia inhabits the warm, arid forests of Venezuela, where it adapts to conditions by digging burrows or creating surface-level retreats. In captivity, this terrestrial species does best in a spacious enclosure with at least 6 inches (15 cm) of slightly moist, well-draining substrate to encourage natural burrowing behavior. Proper ventilation is vital to prevent humidity from becoming excessive, and providing a large, sturdy hide will give the tarantula a secure place to retreat! Because of its impressive size and relatively active nature, this species requires more floor space than most terrestrial tarantulas, making a roomy setup essential for long-term care. With the right environment, X. intermedia can thrive and become a true showpiece in an advanced keeper’s collection.
