Cyriocosmus perezmilesi, commonly known as the Bolivian Dwarf Tarantula, is a small yet beautifully patterned terrestrial species native to Bolivia. Despite its modest size, it is highly sought after for its intricate abdominal markings and manageable temperament.
Adults typically reach a leg span of around 2–3 inches, making it a true dwarf species. The carapace is tan to light brown, while the abdomen features striking dark chevron or leaf-like patterns outlined with lighter tones. The legs are generally soft brown with subtle striping, giving the spider a delicate, refined appearance.
This species prefers a terrestrial setup with a few inches of slightly moist substrate to support light burrowing. A small hide and moderate humidity are beneficial, as it originates from more humid environments. Temperatures in the mid-70s°F work well in captivity.
Generally shy and reclusive, C. perezmilesi is more likely to retreat or flick urticating hairs than show defensive behavior. Its small size, attractive patterning, and relatively calm nature make it a popular choice for collectors who appreciate dwarf New World tarantulas.
