Meet the Tliltocatl albopilosus, aka the curly hair tarantula—a fuzzy, plump spider with a cool golden-bronze glow! As it grows, its bristles darken from light to rich brown-black, with extra gold fuzz on those powerful hind legs. Both males and females can stretch to over 6 inches wide, but here’s a fun fact: the shorter-lived males rock a lighter bronze shade, while the long-living females keep it darker for up to 20 years. Perfect for adding a splash of wild charm to your collection!
These tarantulas do well in temperatures between 72–85°F (22–29°C), and it’s a good idea to give them a warm and cool side in the enclosure so they can choose where they’re comfortable. At night, temps shouldn’t drop below 70°F. Humidity should stay around 65–85%, which you can manage by lightly moistening the substrate and always keeping a shallow water dish available. Since they like to dig, adults should have at least 4 inches of substrate, while slings are fine with 2–3 inches. A mix of coco fiber, peat moss, vermiculite, or other safe, chemical-free materials works great for their setup.
