Ornithoctonus aureotibialis (Thailand Gold Fringe)

The Ornithoctonus aureotibialis, or Thailand Golden Fringe Tarantula, is an Old World fossorial spider native to Thailand, Myanmar, and Malaysia. It gets its name from the eye-catching golden or orange fringe of hairs on its front legs, especially visible in subadults and adults. 

This tarantula is a speedy and feisty hunter. Instead of flicking hairs, it relies on quick moves, bold threat displays, and potent venom to keep things interesting. These burrowers love their underground homes and come out at night to hunt—so a deep substrate is a must for happy captive life. Perfect for experienced keepers, this tarantula is definitely more for watching than handling!
