Warmiru longicolli, commonly known as the Peruvian blue zebra or midnight blue birdeater, is a species of tarantula in the family Theraphosidae. It is endemic to the northwestern part of South America, with a distribution spanning Ecuador and Peru, particularly in the Andean highlands. The species was originally described as Lasiodorides longicolli by Schmidt in 2003 and was previously classified under the genus Thrixopelma. It was transferred to the newly established genus Warmiru in 2025 by Sherwood et al., following taxonomic revisions that distinguished it from Thrixopelma based on genitalia morphology and the absence of a dark longitudinal stripe on the female abdomen.
Physically, Warmiru longicolli is characterized by shades of grey-blue to midnight blue, with brighter colors appearing after molting. It features darker femora, light-colored longitudinal stripes on its legs, and long, light greyish-blue setae on its legs and abdomen. It is a medium to large-sized spider, and researchers note that further fieldwork is required to precisely determine its full distribution range.
