Centruroides margaritatus is a slender, fast-moving scorpion species found throughout Central America, especially in Costa Rica, Panama, Nicaragua, and parts of northern South America. It is commonly referred to as the striped bark scorpion due to the distinct dark longitudinal stripes running along its pale yellow to light brown body.

Adults typically reach about 2 to 3 inches (5–7.5 cm) in length. Like other bark scorpions, it is highly agile and an excellent climber, often found on trees, walls, rocks, and inside human structures.

This species is nocturnal and spends the day hiding in bark crevices, leaf litter, or sheltered cracks. At night it actively hunts small insects and arthropods, using speed and precision rather than brute force to capture prey.

Its venom is medically significant but generally less dangerous than some closely related species in the same genus. Stings can cause localized pain, swelling, numbness, and discomfort, with severe reactions being uncommon in healthy adults. However, it can still pose greater risk to children or sensitive individuals.

Overall, Centruroides margaritatus is known for its adaptability, climbing ability, and close association with human environments in parts of its range.
