The Brachypelma hamorii, or Mexican Red Knee Tarantula, is a popular terrestrial species native to the dry forests of western Mexico. Famous for its velvety black body and bright orange-red knees, it is one of the most recognizable tarantulas in the hobby.
Known for its calm temperament and hardy nature, it's an excellent choice for both beginners and experienced keepers. Females can live over 25 years and reach a leg span of 5–6 inches, while males typically live 5–10 years.
Easy to care for, B. hamorii thrives in a terrestrial enclosure with dry substrate, a hide, and a water dish. Its beautiful coloration, gentle personality, and simple care requirements have made it a timeless favorite among tarantula enthusiasts.
