Avicularia sp. 'Pucallpa'

Avicularia sp. 'Pucallpa' is a striking arboreal tarantula species endemic to the lush, biodiverse region surrounding Pucallpa in eastern Peru, nestled deep within the Amazon rainforest. Thriving in environments characterized by consistently high humidity, abundant rainfall, and dense, multi-layered vegetation, this tarantula has adapted to life high above the forest floor, weaving intricate silk retreats among tree branches, epiphytic plants, and thick leaf litter to shelter from predators and the midday heat. Primarily nocturnal, it remains largely inactive during daylight hours, conserving energy in its silken hideaways before emerging at dusk to hunt small insects and other invertebrates.
